Prep for Head Balance – Arm Exercise for Upper body strength and agility. Sirsasana Preparation.

Prep for Head Balance – Sirsasana Preparation. Arm Exercise. Upper body strength and agility. Beginners Yoga. In these five poses in “Prep for Head Balance”, Lin and Leo show you how to work in order to develop the strength and alignment in the body to give you the tools to ensure that you are ready to stand on your head.

This arm exercise develops the direction and strength in the arms and upper body. It also helps to inform the position of the torso in inversions, .

Do all 5 of these Prep for Head Balance poses separately to learn the actions poses and then do our Prep for Head Balance Collection; a silent practice where we join these poses together. You should not attempt Sirsasana (Head Balance, Headstand) unless you are comfortably holding a good Shoulder Balance (Sarvangasana) for at least 8 minutes.

Our Yoga Pose Directory offers both Beginners Yoga and poses for more Intermediate yoga students.

Join Yoga with Lin and Leo for safe, detailed instruction from experienced Iyengar yoga teachers. Although we would always suggest that you find a certified Iyengar yoga teacher so that you can attend a class near you, this channel has yoga sequences to help you practice your yoga at home.

Yoga is not a sport but regular practice of yoga sequences can improve fitness levels. Practiced correctly, yoga will stretch muscles and strengthen joints, as well as helping with mental and physical wellbeing; indeed many studies have shown that yoga can have remarkable effects on problems with back pain, shoulder pain and neck pain as well as demonstrating positive effects on mental health problems such as depression, stress and general anxiety.
