25 Minute Strongman Conditioning – Fat Loss For A Real Man

A sled, Rope, Sledge, Axle Bar, and a Tire. It’s time to man up and build brute strength and conditioning – strongman style.

Today, Blue Star Nutraceuticals Pro-Trainer Matt Daciw is challenging you to a rough and tough conditioning circuit that’ll leave you gasping for air – all while adding brute strength that will carry over into extra plates on your squat, deadlift, and bench press.

You’ve got 5 minutes for warming up. And 20 minutes to complete as many rounds as you can.

Use your smartphone for a stopwatch – no texting your ex or taking selfies – we’re here to get work done.
The Warm Up:
This isn’t your traditional, leisurely walk on the treadmill; this is a real man’s warm up. We’re going to start out with 3 minutes of bear walks on the turf, followed by 2 minutes of broad jumps.

Get down on your hands and feet and crawl like a bear – as simple as that sounds, it takes a little coordination – and will do wonders for warming up the muscles, improving mobility and preparing the body for the onslaught that’s about to take place.

Once the 3 minutes are up, move right into broad jumps.

Squat down, swing your arms back, and explode forward into the air jumping as far as you can, fully stretching out your body mid-air. These will help prepare your body for explosive power and improve hip mobility – you’ve got 2 minutes.

Alright… All warmed up??

Get the stopwatch set to 20 minutes and let’s go!

Exercise #1: Sled Push
Load up 2 times your bodyweight on the sled and drive it for a total of 100ft, going 50 feet down, and 50 feet back.

Exercise #2: Sled Pull
Strip off half the weight leaving your bodyweight on the sled, attach one end of a battle rope to the sled, squat down and pull hand-over-hand 25 feet one way, run back with the rope and pull it 25 feet back.

Exercise #3: Tire Flips
Next head over, grab the heaviest tire you can flip and flip that S.O.B. 5 times. Just make sure you don’t deadlift the tire up – that’s how you tear a bicep. Instead stand back about a foot and push your chest hard into the tire. When half way up, drive your knee under it – switch hand positions – and push it off you.

Exercise #4: Tire Sledges
Once you’re done that, grab a sledge and smash the tire for 10 reps each side. Keep a tight grip on that sledge so you don’t kill anyone standing around you.

Exercise #5 Axle Bar Deadlifts
Finally – Load the bar up with half of your 1 rep max – and perform 8 explosive repetitions. The thicker bar will tax your grip strength. If you don’t have an axle bar – a regular bar will be ok. If you’re not sure how to deadlift properly – click the link at the top of this description.

That’s round one.Take as short a rest time as possible then start up round 2 and see how many you can get before the time runs out!
