Strength Spin Mitey – Made in Japan circa 1960s – Ultralite Worm Drive Fixed Spool Fishing Reel.
This 1960s ultralite fixed spool with its worm drive and ball bearings is pretty much a Japanese version of the famous Alcedo Micron, not so fine perhaps but no doubt much cheaper. Has no name or maker to be found anywhere on it, just “Foreign” stamped on the foot; I found the name, Strength Spin Mitey, on the Web on a reel almost identical to it. It is certainly Japanese circa 1960s and has a colour scheme and design similar to the famous Columbian fixed spools of the early 1960s which may have been early Olympics. Not in the greatest cosmetic condition but still working and an interesting and probably rare reel it is.
