Apple cider vinegar has been around almost as long as dirt has! And it has been hailed as something of a MAGIC cure all for everything from health and beauty remedies to safe and effective household cleaner. But what about all the claims that ACV will help you to lose weight?
Acetic acid is the main active component of apple cider vinegar, accounting for about 5-6%. Most of the studies done on the correlation between ACV and weight loss has been done on animals and here is what those studies have shown:
Lowers blood sugar levels
Decreases insulin levels
Improves metabolism
Reduces fat storage
Burns fat
Suppresses appetite
And while all this is very promising it’s important to keep in mind that research is needed to confirm these same statistics in human trials.
Here is my recipe for the ACV morning cocktail that I have every morning and sometimes before my meals:
1 tbsp ACV in a glass of water
1/2 tsp honey
Again and as always what I NEED to reaffirm is that if you are living a very unhealthy lifestyle; making poor choices with your nutrition and not getting regular physical exercise than no amount of apple cider vinegar or any other potential MIRACLE food is going to help you lose weight.
Apple cider vinegar will certainly help to promote a healthy pH balance in your body and in doing that your body will function much more optimally because it is in it’s HAPPY PLACE. But consider that making more BEST choices when it comes to your health & wellness are ultimately the best thing you can do.
So then what would be the benefit of ACV? Well, if you are making great lifestyle choices, eating well, getting regular exercise, including ACV into your diet will help support all of that and may very well reduce your risk of developing other health issues.
