Bodybuilding is the use of progressive resistance exercises to control and develop the muscles for aesthetic purposes. [1] A person who is engaged in this activity is called a bodybuilder. In competitive bodybuilding, bodybuilders appear in queues and perform specific postures (and subsequent individual posture routines) for a panel of judges that classify competitors according to criteria such as symmetry, musculature and packaging. Bodybuilders prepare for competition by eliminating essential body fat, reinforced in the last stage by a combination of extracellular dehydration and carbohydrate loading, for maximum muscle definition and vascularization, as well as tanning to improve body contrast. Under reflectors Bodybuilders can use anabolic steroids and other drugs that improve performance to build muscles.
The winner of the annual IFBB Olympia M. Olympia is generally recognized as the world’s largest male professional bodybuilder.
